Our Final Day In Rome!

Hello Everyone,

Today was packed with exciting places to visit. We began our day by heading to Vatican City to see such major attractions as St. Peters Basilica and the Sistine Chapel Celling. We got to experience a three hour tour of Vatican City where we viewed several pieces of art including Raphael's famous fresco The School of Athens. I personally have always loved this work so it was truly amazing to see it close up. We then moved into the famous Sistine Chapel where Michelangelo's famous masterpiece awaited. This project was commissioned by the pope and took Michelangelo a little over four years to complete. The center panel, the creation of Adam, was amazing to see.

We then went to St. Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world. It was beautiful and full of many marbles, not to mention it is the resting place for many popes including John Paul II. Later in the day we got to visit Bernini's famous fountain in Piazza Navona called The Fountain of The Four Rivers. Then we headed off to dinner at a nearby restaurant which served the best overall meal I had on the trip. For our appetizer we had bruscetta, which are tomatoes on toasted bread. For our first course we had lasagna, followed by a second course of steak with potatoes. We topped it off with chocolate mousse for dessert; every course was amazing. Their portion sizes are smaller in Europe so while it might sound like a lot of food it was actually just right! I loved Rome more than any other country we visited! The great food, people, and attractions make it a great vacation spot!
